“It’s a work in progress, but I am less likely to sabotage myself now”

Anesh Sukhnandan was plagued by the feeling that he was not fulfilling his potential. “I had always been formally employed in business intelligence and technology. After attending a webinar by Mark Levy, the CEO of Blue Label Telecoms, I became obsessed with technology and business solutions,” Anesh explains. In 2015, AT Business Solutions and Laptop Distributors (Pty) Ltd was founded.

After two unsuccessful attempts at taking various products to market, Anesh decided on selling laptops to corporates. Cashflow proved to be an issue. Anesh needed customers to pay upfront in order to buy stock. This resulted in a large amount of trust being placed in a small, unknown business. “I focused on marketing my company and building my brand. I decided from the beginning that I would never sell anything that I wouldn’t purchase for myself,” he says.

In 2020, Anesh was selected for an Oracle-sponsored business-development programme powered by Raizcorp. “I didn’t consider myself an entrepreneur before I started the programme. I’ve learned that the success of my business rests on me. I now think like an entrepreneur and work hard to solve my customers’ problems,” he says. As his reputation grew, AT Business Solutions started seeing some traction and managed to hit six figures in revenue. “I just wanted to make enough money to cover school fees – Raizcorp helped me step out of that small bubble.”

“Spend time with yourself. Get to know yourself and figure out what makes you tick. Know how you feel in victory and how you feel in failure, so that you can learn to deal with those emotions gracefully,” Anesh says in a message to other entrepreneurs.

“I am eternally grateful to Oracle for sponsoring me. I have received infinite value on this programme. It has moulded and sculpted me to be more self-aware and accomplish my targets. It’s a work in progress, but I am less likely to sabotage myself now. You’ve opened my eyes and I couldn’t have done it without you.”
