The Engen Maths & Science Schools Programme supports high-potential learners in strengthening their performance in Mathematics and Physical Sciences – key gateway subjects that open doors to competitive university programmes and bursary opportunities.

Through structured academic support and quality STEM blended learning and teaching, EMSS Scholars build the depth of understanding needed to excel in the senior grades of Grades 10 to 12.

EMSS Scholars also gain early exposure to tertiary pathways and exclusive tertiary bursary opportunities – positioning them ahead of their peers.

This programme is designed for learners who are ready to move beyond average and commit to a journey of pursuing academic excellence.

Applications are now open for motivated Grade 10 learners who want to join us as an EMSS Scholar.

What will be expected from you

This is a revered academic programme that is leading the development of a culture of excellence in Maths and Science in South African schools. We are looking for EMSS scholars who are serious about their learning, their future, and who are passionate about building a brighter tomorrow for themselves and their communities.

Admission and continuation on the programme are subject to successful application, the fulfilment of monthly tasks and assignments and the attendance of key in-person events during the course of the year.

Requirements:

  • Attend all scheduled sessions.
  • Complete all benchmark assessments.
  • Complete your online assignments every week.
  • Engage with your mentor on the WhatsApp group when you need programme support
  • Travel once per month to a local school for an in-person session (transport at your own cost).
  • Provide us with your school reports on a termly basis.
  • Maintain consistent effort and commitment.
  • Represent the EMSS programme with pride and consistency.
  • Consent to the use of programme photographs and videos by Engen and in the media.

This programme supports learners who are prepared to work hard, with ambition to unlock their full potential and open doors to tertiary bursary opportunities. Selection is competitive and based on academic results, character, work ethic and commitment.

Application deadline is 30 March 2026. Programme starts on the 11th April 2026.
